
Silchar, 14 July (HS): Cachar Police seized 10,000 suspected Yaba tablets during a anti-narcotics operation in Silchar town and apprehended two suspected drug peddlers, official sources informed on Tuesday.
Acting on reliable source information that two persons were roaming in Silchar with suspected narcotic drugs for sale, police launched an operation and detained the suspects at around 1:30 am on Tuesday from Kalibari Char, Malakar Patty under Silchar Police Station.
The accused have been identified as Tomiz Uddin Laskar (28), a resident of Berenga Part-II in Cachar and Asadul Islam (29), a resident of Batamari under Juria Police Station in Nagaon district.
During a personal search, police recovered 10,000 suspected Yaba tablets weighing a total gross of 1,094 grams from their possession. The contraband was seized, packed, sealed, marked and labelled at the spot in the presence of independent witnesses following the prescribed provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police have initiated necessary legal action in connection with the case and further investigation is underway.---------
