
Nagpur, 11 July (HS): The Revenue Department has earned a dubious distinction
of becoming the most corrupt department, followed by Police Department at
second number. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) during January 2025 to June
2026 had undertaken special drive against corruption. Action in 19 successful
traps were conducted in the Revenue Department, while 12 cases were detected
under the Police Department.
Those involved in corruption included chief engineer, superintending
engineer, police sub-inspector and other senior officers. RTO officials accepted
bribes through private agents.
In Nagpur region after Police Department, the number of cases registered
were Health Department – 6, Forest Department, Rural Development and Power
Companies – 5 each, Eight traps were laid in RTO, in which three Assistant
Regional Transport Officers (ARTO), four Motor Vehicle Inspectors, one clerk
and eight private persons were held. Offences against them have been
registered. Four cases each were registered relating to Education and
Agriculture Departments, three under Zilla Parishad, and two each under
Panchayat Samiti, Municipal Corporation, Land Records, Stamp Duty and Water
Resources Department.
The ATS
has appealed to the people they should contact its office in case of demand for
bribe or any money beyond the official charges. The money of the complainant
will be returned within one month and the complainant’s work will be done
