New Delhi, June 8 (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced the names of its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. The party has nominated Mahesh Kewat from Madhya Pradesh and Prof. (Dr.) M. Nagaraj from Karnataka for the Upper House elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the BJP said that its Central Election Committee had approved four names for the Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, as well as for the 2026 biennial elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council.

Mahesh Kewat, who currently serves as Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Fishermen Welfare Board, has been fielded as the party’s candidate from Madhya Pradesh. For the Karnataka Legislative Council biennial elections, the BJP has nominated Lingaraj Patil and Raghu Kautilya as its candidates. Monday is the last date for filing nominations.

It is noteworthy that Rajya Sabha elections will be held for seats in ten states where the terms of incumbent members are scheduled to expire on various dates between June 21 and July 19. Voting for the biennial elections will take place on June 18, and the results will be declared the same day.

The deadline for filing nominations has been fixed as June 8.
