Bhubaneswar, 07 June (H.S.): In a significant step towards enhancing technology-driven education and improving employability among young women, the Odisha Higher Education Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Edunet Foundation to provide structured training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to women students across colleges and universities in the state.

The initiative, supported by Edunet Foundation in collaboration with Microsoft, aims to bridge the skill gap and prepare students for careers in rapidly evolving technology sectors. Under the programme, participants will receive industry-oriented training in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Python Programming, Data Analytics, and other cutting-edge fields.

The training programme will comprise 240 hours of intensive learning designed to strengthen technical competencies, enhance digital skills, and improve employability prospects. As part of the initiative, a specialized course titled “Career Opportunities for Women in Artificial Intelligence” will be introduced to help students explore emerging career pathways in the technology sector.

Students enrolled in the programme will also work on capstone projects focused on real-world applications of modern technologies, enabling them to gain practical experience and industry exposure. In addition, the initiative will facilitate internship and employment opportunities, helping participants transition more effectively into the workforce.

Approximately 1,000 women students are expected to benefit from the programme every year. Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive certification jointly issued by Edunet Foundation and Microsoft, adding significant value to their professional credentials.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes skill development, innovation, and technology-enabled learning. He noted that the programme would play a crucial role in strengthening the technical capabilities of students and enhancing their career opportunities in emerging sectors of the economy.
