Armenia Objectively Not Yet Ready for EU Member State Status - Pashinyan

YEREVAN, June 7 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Armenia is not yet objectively ready for the status of a European Union member state, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Sunday.

The referendum will take place once the subject of the referendum is determined. And the subject of the referendum should be at least Armenia's official request to join the European Union, or Armenia's status as a member state of the European Union. Neither of these two conditions currently exists ... We objectively know that we are not ready for this status; we must carry out reforms. We will calmly continue the path of reforms, Pashinyan told reporters when asked about a possible referendum to determine Armenia's continued participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) or the EU accession process.
