
West Bengal, 04 June (H.S.): The police have arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged beating to death of Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker Sukumar Lohar, also known as Habal Lohar, in Bolpur. The arrests were made after the victim's family lodged a written complaint at Bolpur Police Station on Wednesday night.
The accused have been identified as Rakesh Lohar, Khokon Das alias Jhokon Das, and Tapi alias Debabrata Sar. According to police sources, all three are residents of the Bahiri Purbapara area under the jurisdiction of Bolpur Police Station.
The police said a murder case has been registered based on the complaint, and an investigation is underway. The arrested individuals are scheduled to be produced before the Bolpur Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday. Investigators are also examining the motive behind the crime and whether any other individuals were involved in the incident.
According to the police, the incident occurred late on Tuesday night in Bahiri Purbapara area, where Sukumar Lohar was allegedly assaulted. He was rescued in a critically injured condition and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has sparked political tension in the area. Police officials said they are investigating all aspects of the case and are working to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the murder.
