Kolkata, 04 June (H.S.) : Amid reports of internal discord and alleged fragmentation within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), senior BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta has advised party workers to remain cautious and avoid being influenced by individuals seeking to join the party for personal or political survival.
Reacting to the evolving political situation in West Bengal, Dasgupta said the developments within the TMC should be viewed as a “split” and that BJP workers must not become overly enthusiastic about the situation. He stressed that the party should not differentiate between what is perceived as a “good” or “bad” faction of the TMC.
“The developments taking place indicate a clear division within the TMC. BJP workers should not react with unnecessary excitement. We need to remain alert and cautious,” he said.
Dasgupta further claimed that the recent electoral mandate clearly reflected the will of the people in favour of the BJP, adding that the results had made it evident what voters wanted.
The BJP leader also alleged that several TMC leaders and workers were now attempting to join the BJP as the ruling party faces internal challenges. He cautioned that such individuals should be carefully evaluated before being inducted into the party.
He accused the TMC of being associated with “cut-money” practices and syndicate politics, alleging that the party had transformed into what he described as a “criminal enterprise” rather than a political organisation.
Earlier in the day, Dasgupta posted on social media platform X that while he had no sympathy for the TMC’s internal crisis, the BJP must remain vigilant against “false friends” seeking entry into the party to conceal their past actions.
