Imphal, 04 June (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of successful operations across the state, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, the arrest of an active militant, and the apprehension of four insurgent cadres linked to banned outfits over the last 24 hours.

Officials informed on Thursday that during a search operation conducted on June 3 at a hut in the Irilbung area of Imphal East district, security personnel recovered two AK rifles, one SLR rifle, one 9 mm carbine, four hand grenades, three magazines and 42 rounds of ammunition of different calibres.

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned PREPAK outfit from Sawombung Khunjao near the Primary Health Centre under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested individual was identified as Thangjam Nganba Meetei alias Inao alias Leishabi (23). A four-wheeler and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession.

Meanwhile, security forces apprehended four active cadres associated with KCP, KYKL and PREPAK during an operation near Border Pillar 67 close to Khangtung village in Chandel district. The arrested individuals were identified as Mayanglambam Gandhi Singh (KCP), Langpoklakpam Sushil Singh (PREPAK), Laitonjam Kanheiya Singh (KYKL) and Kangjam Naresh Meitei (PREPAK).

In another crackdown on illegal activities, Manipur Police arrested a man during frisking and checking operations at Lilong Dam near Nungei in Thoubal district. The accused, identified as MM Warish (33), was found in possession of 18 strips of suspected SP (Serratiopeptidase) capsules weighing approximately 115 grams. A two-wheeler used by the accused was also seized.

Officials stated that security operations and anti-insurgency measures are being intensified across Manipur to curb militant activities and illegal trafficking.-----------
