
Chandigarh, 04 June (H.S.): District Police and
the BSF jointly conducted a special search operation on Thursday in the border
areas of Pathankot adjoining the India-Pakistan border. During the operation,
the teams carried out detailed checking along riverbanks, forest areas and
other isolated places near the border.
Several people were also questioned during the
operation, while security personnel kept a close watch on every suspicious
activity in the area.
Pathankot SSP Daljinder Singh Dhillon said that the
operation was part of routine security measures. He said the main objective of
the drive was to strengthen law and order and keep a check on anti-social
elements.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of
Sub-Inspector Kuldeep Raj, SHO of Narot Jaimal Singh police station. DSP
Operations Gurbakhsh Singh Bajwa was also specially present during the search
drive. Security forces thoroughly checked several suspected places in the
border villages.
DSP Gurbakhsh Singh Bajwa said that such search
operations are conducted from time to time on the directions of the district
police chief to ensure the safety of people and their property.
He appealed to the public to share complete identity
details with the police before hiring any person or renting out a house. He
said this would help the police trace criminals and anti-social elements more
effectively.
The DSP also urged people to immediately inform the
police if they notice any suspicious person or activity in their surroundings.
He assured that the identity of the informer would be kept completely
confidential.
He said that effective control over crime and maintenance of peace and
security in border areas can be ensured only through cooperation between the
police and the public.
