
Panchkula, 04 June (H.S.):Panchkula’s Sector 5 area after heavy
firing took place outside a club late Wednesday night. The attackers allegedly
fired around 12 to 15 rounds at two youths, leaving both seriously injured.
According to police, the incident took place around 1 am when Ratan Lubana
and Lalit, both residents of MDC, were coming out of a club in Sector 5. Some
assailants, who were reportedly waiting nearby, suddenly opened fire at them.
The two youths tried to run to save their lives, but the attackers continued
firing.
The sound of gunshots created panic in the surrounding area. In the firing,
Ratan Lubana sustained a bullet injury in his stomach, while Lalit was hit in
the shoulder. Both injured youths were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital
in Sector 6. After initial treatment, they were referred to PGI Chandigarh due
to their serious condition.
Sector 5 police reached the spot soon after receiving information and
cordoned off the area. The police collected important evidence from the crime
scene and also took CCTV footage from nearby cameras into custody for
investigation.
Police officials said that efforts are being made to identify the attackers
and ascertain the motive behind the incident. Initial investigation is being
carried out from different angles, including the possibility of an old rivalry.
Police said the accused will be identified and arrested soon on the basis of
CCTV footage and other clues. Further investigation into the case is underway.
