Kolkata, 04 June (H.S.) : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dilip Ghosh launched a sharp attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, alleging that he is attempting to evade legal scrutiny by pretending to be unwell. He claimed that such attempts will not succeed and that “jail is inevitable” in due course.

Speaking to the media during his morning walk in the New Town area on Thursday, Ghosh said several TMC leaders in the past, including Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mondal, had similarly attempted to avoid legal action by citing health issues but were eventually arrested.

Ghosh further alleged that money from various corruption cases in West Bengal, including coal smuggling, sand mining, and cattle smuggling, had reached the top leadership of the state, including Abhishek Banerjee. He also claimed that senior bureaucrats had been influenced in the process.

Commenting on the recent political turbulence within the TMC and reported internal rifts among legislators, Ghosh said the situation was expected and claimed that the party is heading towards decline and fragmentation.

He also alleged that Abhishek Banerjee has no organic connection with the TMC and rose in politics primarily due to his family ties with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused the party of being driven by corruption and extortion practices over a prolonged period.

Ghosh further said that just as alleged illegal constructions and enforcement actions are being taken in the state, similar political accountability should be enforced against the TMC. He asserted that the party’s end is necessary, adding that it has “damaged West Bengal over the past 15 years.”

“The TMC is trying to escape the law. Earlier their leaders also did the same by saying they were in hospitals. The TMC is collapsing and this was always its future. People do not want to see the TMC anymore,” Ghosh said.
