Imphal, 30 June (HS): Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh, accompanied by ADGP (Law & Order), conducted an extensive review of security arrangements during visits to Kakching and Chandel districts on Monday, focusing on policing, operational preparedness and welfare measures.
During the visit to Kakching, the DGP assessed the district police's readiness to prevent any untoward incidents during the ongoing cultivation season. Interacting with officers of the district police, CAPFs and central agencies, he stressed the need for prompt investigation of cases, speedy disposal of investigations, sustained operations against anti-national elements and drug traffickers, and intensified efforts to recover illegal arms and ammunition. He also assured that personnel displaying outstanding professionalism would be suitably rewarded and commended the district police's bicycle patrol initiative as an effective model of beat policing. The DGP also interacted with representatives of civil society organisations.
At the headquarters of the 8th Manipur Rifles in Leikun, Singh reviewed deployment at various posts and outposts, static guard arrangements and law and order duties. He urged officers and personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism and harmonious working conditions within the unit while encouraging better utilisation of unit land and resources for the welfare of personnel.
In Chandel district, the DGP inaugurated a newly renovated conference hall and a newly established cyber cell at the Superintendent of Police's office to strengthen cybercrime investigation and modern policing infrastructure. He later held discussions with district police officers, Assam Rifles and civil society representatives, highlighting people-centric policing, appreciating the coordination between police and local organisations in maintaining peace, and emphasising continued inter-agency cooperation. He also encouraged local youth to participate in the upcoming Manipur Police recruitment rally.
Later in the day, the DGP and the ADGP (Law & Order) addressed officers and commanders of the Special Commando Unit at the Police Headquarters, where they briefed personnel on operational preparedness, professionalism, discipline and coordinated efforts to effectively tackle emerging security challenges across the state.------------
