Guwahati, 30 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the state government is extending all possible support to people affected by the severe floods in the greater Jonai region of Dhemaji district following an uncontrolled surge of water from the adjoining hill areas.
The Chief Minister said the flash floods have severely impacted villages under the Telam, Misamora and Ramdhan Dikhari Gram Panchayats, including Madhupur, Arun Chapori, Jamuguri Siyari, No. 2 Uluwani, Majgaon, and No. 2 and No. 3 Malan. The deluge has damaged houses, agricultural land and livelihoods, forcing many families to endure difficult conditions.
Dr. Sarma assured that the state government and district administration are working in coordination to provide relief, rehabilitation and all necessary assistance to the affected residents. He added that several measures have already been initiated to address the crisis and reaffirmed that the government would continue to stand by the flood-affected people until normalcy is restored.-----------
