Youth Congress stages protest over alleged NEET irregularities

Bhubaneswar, 27 June (H.S.): The Pradesh Youth Congress on Friday staged a massive protest in Bhubaneswar over alleged irregularities and corruption in the NEET examination, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

A rally led by Pradesh Youth Congress president Ranjit Patra started from Congress Bhawan and proceeded towards the BJP office via Master Canteen. However, the march was stopped by police after barricades were erected, leading to a brief confrontation. Several protestors were detained and taken away in police vehicles.

During the demonstration, Youth Congress workers also burnt an effigy of the Union Education Minister.

Ranjit Patra alleged that the education system in the country has been pushed into crisis under the BJP government, claiming that alleged irregularities in the conduct of NEET have affected lakhs of students. He demanded accountability and the resignation of the Education Minister.

He further stated that concerns of students and parents were also highlighted in Rahul Gandhi’s address in Kota. Allegations of irregularities in NEET and CBSE examinations, including paper leaks and evaluation errors, were raised as issues impacting students’ futures.

The Youth Congress also flagged concerns over errors in Odisha school textbooks and the overall deterioration of the education system. The organisation warned that the agitation would be intensified if corrective measures and strict action against those responsible are not taken.
