Chandigarh, 24 June (H.S.): The Punjab SC Commission has directed Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu to pay obeisance at four religious places in Punjab in connection with his alleged objectionable remarks against police personnel. The Commission had summoned him over the matter.

Appearing before the Commission on Wednesday along with his lawyers, Ravneet Singh Bittu presented his side before Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi.

Through his counsel, Bittu stated, “My words were 100 percent legally wrong. I have already apologized for them and also deleted the video from my social media account.”

Bittu explained that he was first stopped by an SP-rank officer in Sangrur, who informed him that his OSD, Omkar, had been detained at Ballia police station. He then went to Ballia police station, where he was told that Omkar had been shifted to Sangrur. Later, when he reached Dhuri, he alleged that an SHO-rank officer blocked his vehicle by parking another vehicle in front of it.

He claimed that he was treated disrespectfully during the incident and that certain remarks made by police personnel hurt his sentiments. Bittu said that the situation was tense at the time and that he became emotional due to the behavior of the police. He acknowledged that if he had used any objectionable words, he had already apologized publicly through the media.

Bittu further stated that he belongs to a political party whose leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has washed the feet of sanitation workers as a mark of respect.

Earlier, the Commission had summoned Bittu on June 4 and June 15, but he did not appear. After hearing the arguments presented by Bittu and his lawyers on Wednesday, the Commission directed him to visit four religious places and seek blessings.

Under the Commission’s directions, Ravneet Singh Bittu will pay obeisance at

Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar,

Dera Brahmdas Phillaur,

Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Dera Ram Tirath Amritsar,

Dera Sachkhand Ballan Jalandhar district.
