Mumbai, 24 June (HS): As severe monsoon rains continue to
batter Mumbai, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde undertook a direct visit of flooded
areas on Wednesday to assess suction pump operations. During her visit, Mayor
Tawde emphasized the administration's proactive approach to dealing with
periodic rains.
“Mumbai residents should rejoice that the rains have finally
arrived after much anticipation. I am in Gandhi Market, and the pumps are
operational. The road is flawlessly clean,” she remarked during her interaction
with mediapersons. She stated that the entire administration is on the ground.
Heavy rain drenched Mumbai throughout the night, causing significant
waterlogging in various low-lying regions of the city, prompting the India
Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an Orange Alert for Mumbai and
surrounding districts.
