
Prayagraj, 24 June (HS): Harschit Damodaran (Harschit D), a
Class XII student of KhelGaon Public School, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has once
again made India proud by winning the Gold Medal in the Men's Junior Vault
Final at the 19th Junior Asian Gymnastics Championships, held in Zunyi,
China (18–21 June 2026). His spectacular performance established him as one of
Asia's finest young gymnasts and marked yet another historic milestone for
Indian gymnastics.
With him, another student of KhelGaon Public School, Md.
Zaid Ansari, was also part of the Indian Contingent and did a remarkable
performance to pivot India into the lead at the Podium. Earlier this year,
Harschit had also brought glory to the nation by winning the Gold Medal in the
Men's Junior Vault Final at the DTB Stuttgart International Gymnastics
Challenge Cup 2026 in Stuttgart, Germany, creating another landmark achievement
for Indian gymnastics on the global stage.
Adding to his remarkable success, Harschit played a pivotal
role in helping the Indian Junior Men's Artistic Gymnastics Team win India's
first-ever Bronze Medal in the team event at the Asian Championships. The
Indian team, comprising Harschit Damodaran, Mohd Zaid Ansari, SK Nabigh Ali, Akshat Bajaj, and Nishad Narvane,
scored 224.493 points to finish third behind China (241.458) and Japan
(239.461). Harschit also qualified for the Horizontal Bar Final, further
highlighting his exceptional all-round ability.
