BJP leader Dr. Tarsem Garg's clinic targeted, CCTV footage under scrutiny
Bathinda, 23 June (H.S.): Panic gripped Bathinda city late on Monday night after two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at Hahnemann Homeopathic Clinic located in Ward No. 47. The presence of mind shown by the clinic staff helped bring the fire under control immediately, preventing any major loss of life or property.
The clinic belongs to social worker and BJP leader Dr. Tarsem Garg, who was previously associated with the Aam Aadmi Party as a senior leader in Punjab. His wife had also contested the recent Municipal Corporation elections as a BJP candidate. Notably, the office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is located directly opposite the spot where the petrol bomb was thrown.
According to information, around 10 p.m., two youths arrived outside the clinic on a motorcycle and allegedly threw a bottle containing inflammable material before fleeing the spot. The clinic staff quickly extinguished the fire and informed the police.
Senior police officials reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav, SP City Narendra Singh, CIA teams, and forensic experts inspected the site. Police have seized CCTV footage from nearby cameras and initiated an investigation.
Dr. Tarsem Garg said that he does not have any personal enmity with anyone. He suspected that the incident could be the handiwork of miscreants or an attempt to intimidate him. He expressed confidence that the truth would emerge after the police investigation.
Eyewitnesses stated that the attackers had covered their faces and arrived on a motorcycle. According to some local residents, the accused fled immediately after carrying out the attack, and the registration number of the vehicle could not be clearly seen.
SP City Narendra Singh said that a case has been registered at Kotwali Police Station. He said the police are investigating all possible angles and that legal action would be taken against the accused once they are identified. He added that, at present, no specific motive or threat angle has been confirmed.
