Kochi, 23 June (H.S.)Actor Ansiba Hassan has announced that she will no longer contest for or hold any official position in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), days after a major upheaval in the organisation that saw the resignation of its entire executive committee.

In an emotional statement shared on social media, Ansiba expressed gratitude for the love and support she has received throughout her career, describing it as the greatest recognition of her life.

“The greatest honour I have received is the place I hold in the hearts of those who have stood by me. No words are enough to thank everyone for their love and support,” she wrote.

Referring to her future association with AMMA, the actor said she had decided not to seek any leadership position in the organisation again. While stepping away from official responsibilities, she wished the association success in its future endeavours and called for a new generation of leaders to take charge.

“Change is inevitable. Let that change come through a strong, compassionate and courageous younger generation,” she said, signing off her message with heartfelt thanks to members and supporters.

Ansiba’s remarks come amid an ongoing crisis within AMMA. Earlier, 17 members of the organisation’s governing body, including president Swetha Menon, resigned from their posts. The resignations came less than a year after the committee assumed office, triggering uncertainty over the association’s future leadership.

Following the mass resignations, an ad hoc committee was constituted to oversee the affairs of the organisation for a period of four months until a new administrative structure is put in place.

The turmoil has also led to further exits from the association. Actors Lakshmi Priya and Mallika Sukumaran resigned from AMMA in the wake of the executive committee’s departure. Asha Aravind, who had been serving as a member of the newly formed ad hoc committee, also stepped down from her position.

The developments have intensified discussions about leadership, accountability and structural reforms within AMMA, with several members calling for a fresh start under a younger generation of artists. Ansiba’s decision to step away from organisational politics is being seen as part of the broader transition currently unfolding within the influential film body.
