Bhubaneswar, 20 June (H.S.): Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpada Block in Koraput district, in connection with a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case. He is scheduled to be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, later today.

The arrest follows extensive searches conducted by Vigilance officials at properties linked to Sethy, during which assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income were unearthed. According to Vigilance sources, the assets include two flats, one of them allegedly held benami, three farms spread across approximately 14 acres with mango and eucalyptus plantations, and 49 valuable plots, including 17 allegedly benami properties.

The searches also led to the seizure and detection of approximately 940 grams of gold, 2.5 kilograms of silver, cash amounting to Rs 5.48 lakh, bank deposits exceeding Rs 60.92 lakh, and a benami four-wheeler, identified as a Tata Harrier. Officials stated that Sethy was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the acquisition of these assets.

Following the findings, Odisha Vigilance registered Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No. 11/2026 against Sethy under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.

Further investigation into the case is underway, and Vigilance authorities are continuing to verify the extent and ownership of the assets discovered during the searches.
