New Delhi, 20 June (H.S.): The Congress on Saturday announced the appointment of the leader and deputy leader of its legislature party in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

In an official communication, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Zulfikar Ali as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the West Bengal Assembly with immediate effect.

The party has also appointed Motab Sheikh as the Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the state Assembly.

Venugopal said the appointments have been made as part of the party's efforts to strengthen its organisational structure and enhance its role and effectiveness within the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

The decision takes effect immediately and is aimed at providing stronger leadership to the Congress legislature party while reinforcing the party's presence in the state's legislative affairs.
