New Delhi, 20 June (H.S.): The Congress on Saturday alleged that the United States took several anti-India decisions during the G7 Summit held in Evian, France, from June 15 to 17, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to raise any of these issues with US President Donald Trump.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Congress media department chairman Pawan Khera claimed that three major developments detrimental to India's interests took place during the summit.

He said the first was the United States renaming the US Indo-Pacific Command as the US Pacific Command. The second, he alleged, was the depiction of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Pakistan on an official US map. The third and, according to him, the most serious issue was the US State Department's July 2026 Visa Bulletin, which he claimed discontinued EB-2 and EB-5 visa categories for Indian applicants.

Khera alleged that despite these developments, Prime Minister Modi remained completely silent before President Trump and did not raise any of the sensitive issues concerning India's national interests.

He further claimed that the United States had sunk the IRIS Dena, which had previously been a guest of India, but alleged that the Prime Minister did not question President Trump over the incident either.

Drawing comparisons with previous Congress governments, Khera said that in 1986, when Voice of America sought to install a transmitter in Sri Lanka near the Indian coastline, then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi prevented it in order to safeguard India's sovereignty.

He also referred to the Devyani Khobragade diplomatic row, saying that then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had sent a strong message to the United States, surprising the international community. Khera further noted that it was the UPA government that played a key role in placing Pakistan on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. In contrast, he said, President Trump invited Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir for a dinner following Operation Sindoor.

Khera also criticised Trump's reported statement that if anyone attacks India while Modi is Prime Minister, America will help, saying it gave the impression that India was subordinate to the United States.

He asserted that India has always won wars on its own strength. Khera further alleged that the United States was responsible for the deaths of three Indian sailors and claimed that President Trump had not even expressed regret over the incident.
