PM Poshan Yojana laying strong foundation for malnutrition-free
UP: Minister Sandeep Singh
Lucknow, 02 June (HS): The Yogi Adityanath government in
Uttar Pradesh is strengthening not only education but also the health and
nutrition of children. Under the PM Poshan Yojana, balanced, nutritious and
quality food is being provided to lakhs of students studying in classes 1 to 8
in government, council and aided schools. By ensuring adequate availability of
energy, protein and other essential nutrients in children's plates, the
government is strengthening their physical, mental and intellectual
development.
By providing better nutrition, the Yogi government is also
making its fight against malnutrition more effective. State Minister of State
for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh said that under the
leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is giving
equal priority to education and nutrition for the overall development of
children. He said that the PM Poshan Yojana is not just a midday meal program,
but has become an important medium for better health, bright future of children
and building a malnutrition-free Uttar Pradesh. He said that the nutritious
food being provided in schools is showing positive improvement in children's
learning ability, concentration and school attendance.
Sandeep Singh stated that the strong foundation of a
developed India and a developed Uttar Pradesh rests on healthy, educated, and
capable children. Toward this end, the government is ensuring that every child
receives quality and nutritious food in school. He added that nutritional
security is essential for the overall development of children, and the state
government is continuously taking effective steps in this direction. Under the
PM Nutrition Scheme, primary school children are provided a minimum of 450
calories of energy and 12 grams of protein per day, while upper primary school
students are guaranteed 700 calories of energy and 20 grams of protein per day.
These nutritional standards are playing a vital role in improving children's
physical development, immunity, mental concentration, and academic achievement.
To make children's meals more balanced and nutritious, the
Yogi government is providing pulses, green vegetables, soybean dishes, milk,
and seasonal fruits on different days of the week. This ensures children
receive carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, iron, and other essential
micronutrients on a regular basis. This system not only meets children's
nutritional needs but also accelerates their overall development.
Sandeep Singh said that the state government's goal is not
just to provide food to children, but to develop them into healthy, capable,
and self-confident citizens. He added that improved nutrition is leading to
positive changes in children's health, attendance, and academic performance. By
integrating education and nutrition, the government is steadily moving forward
toward realizing the goal of a malnutrition-free Uttar Pradesh.
