Kushinagar, 02 June (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath arrived in Kushinagar on Tuesday. He inaugurated/laid the foundation
stone of 278 projects worth over Rs. 424 crore. He distributed certificates,
acceptance letters, and cheques to beneficiaries of various schemes at the
event held in Tamkuhi Raj, Kushinagar, urging them to benefit from the
government's schemes. He announced the renaming of Fazil Nagar to Pawagarh,
saying the proposal for the name has been prepared.
In a ceremony held at Tamkuhi Raj, he said that this is the
land of Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir. I have come here for the first time and I
bow to this land. He mentioned in detail the jungle raj created by the previous
governments. He said that the farmers here were troubled because they worked
hard but did not get the price for their produce. Not only this, there were no
roads, security, electricity and hospitals. He gave detailed information about
many welfare schemes of his government including housing, ration, Ayushman
card, toilets. He said that a proposal has been made to change the name of
Fazil Nagar to Pawagarh. Why should people call this place Fazil Nagar? This is
a holy land and it is important to maintain its importance.
The CM announced that Fazil Nagar will henceforth be called
as Pawagarh in memory of Jain Tirthankar Lord Mahavir. Kushinagar district administration
has already submitted a request for renaming to the Chief Minister's Office.
The suggested name, Pawagarh, is drawn from Pawapuri in Bihar, a celebrated
Jain pilgrimage site said to be Lord Mahavir's birthplace. CM Yogi said that the request to rename Fazil
Nagar had been granted, and that it would no longer be called as Fazil Nagar. Instead,
it will adopt a new identity as Pawagarh. The town will be called after Lord
Mahavir. Why should we continue to name it Fazil? People from all across the
country and throughout the world will come here to continue Pawagarh's cultural
legacy. We should be grateful to our ancestors, the CM remarked.
The program was attended by a large number of public
representatives, including the district's in-charge minister Dinesh Pratap
Singh, MP Ravi Kishan, MP Shashank Mani Tripathi, MLAs Surendra Kushwaha,
Savitri Jaiswal, Durgesh Rai, Vivekanand Pandey, Vinay Prakash Gaud, and UP
