
Imphal, 17 June (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of successful operations across the state over the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of suspected militants, the destruction of fortified bunkers, and the seizure of narcotics.
During a search operation, security personnel apprehended Yumnam Seityajit Mangang (36), a resident of Khurai Puthiba Leikai in Imphal East district. A .22 calibre revolver along with nine live rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession.
In a separate action, security forces demolished 14 bunkers located along the Mogkot Chepu–Patlijang hill stretch and the Lungphu Junction–Industrial Estate Centre hill stretch. Two empty 5.56 mm cartridge cases were also recovered from one of the bunker sites.
Meanwhile, two active cadres of the banned RPF/PLA outfit were arrested from different parts of Imphal West district. The arrested individuals were identified as Mutum Mohen Singh (29) and Sanayaima Leichombam alias Quinton alias Leirangjao alias Leirengbi (50).
In another major operation against drug trafficking, Manipur Police arrested two women from Churachandpur district and seized approximately two kilograms of suspected morphine. The accused were identified as Hoineilhing (32) and Chinneivah (25), both residents of T Khonomphai Village.
Further investigation is underway in all the cases.-----------
