
Guwahati, 17 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said through social media post that Assam Police foiled an attempt to transport narcotics to Guwahati, seizing a large quantity of morphine during a successful anti-drug operation in Karbi Anglong district.
According to the Chief Minister, Karbi Anglong Police recovered 3.049 kg of morphine, estimated to be worth around ₹3 crore, from a vehicle that was heading towards Guwahati. One alleged drug trafficker was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Dr. Sarma stated that the operation reflects the vigilance and commitment of Assam Police in curbing the illegal drug trade in the state. He reiterated that the government's campaign, “Assam Against Drugs”, would continue with full force to eliminate the narcotics network and protect society from the menace of drugs.-----------
