Guwahati, 17 June (HS): Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia said that an eviction drive would soon be carried out to free historical and spiritual sites in Darrang district from encroachments, stressing the need to preserve the region’s cultural and religious heritage. The BJP President was talking to media persons after a program.
Reacting to the recent increase in bus fares in Assam, Saikia said the hike was linked to rising fuel prices and prevailing international circumstances. He expressed hope that the situation would stabilise in the coming days.
Referring to global developments, the BJP leader stated that once the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz improves and normalcy is restored, fuel prices are expected to come under control again, which could also help ease transportation costs.-----------
