
Bathinda, 16 June (H.S.): Woman Police Station
Mansa SHO Inspector Beant Kaur died in a tragic road accident on the
Bathinda-Mansa road in the early morning of Tuesday. The accident took place
near Gurudwara Titarsar Sahib when she was returning home from duty in her car.
According to preliminary information, Inspector Beant
Kaur’s car collided with a tractor-trolley loaded with dry fodder moving ahead
on the road. After the collision, the car lost balance and hit a tree on the
roadside. The accident was so severe that the car was badly damaged.
Due to the impact, the rear portion of the car was
completely crushed, while the roof also caved in and the body of the vehicle
was bent at several places. The window panes were shattered, and the doors
along with the rear section suffered heavy damage.
According to eyewitnesses, the sound of the collision
was heard from a considerable distance. Local residents and police immediately
started rescue efforts, but Inspector Beant Kaur died on the spot.
Information about the incident was received, a police
team from Maur police station reached the spot. Police took the body into
custody and sent it to Civil Hospital Bathinda for post-mortem examination.
Evidence was also collected from the accident site, and further proceedings
have been initiated.
Inspector Beant Kaur was currently posted as SHO at the
Woman Police Station in Mansa. She belonged to Jangirana village in Bathinda
district and was married in Maisarkhana village.
The news of her death sent a wave of grief across the
police department. Senior officers, colleagues and acquaintances expressed deep
sorrow over her demise, describing her as a hardworking, dutiful and sensitive
officer. Her death is being considered a major loss to the police force.
According to police officials, an investigation is underway to determine the
actual cause of the accident. The visibility conditions on the road, the safety
arrangements of the tractor-trolley and other technical aspects are also being
examined closely. A clear picture regarding the cause of the accident will
emerge only after the investigation report is completed.
