Bhubaneswar, 16 June (H.S.): Bishwa Odia Paribar organized a grand Raj Festival celebration at the Odisha State Museum premises, highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment, Odia culture, and the enduring relationship between nature and tradition.

Member of Parliament from Aska, Anita Subhadarshini Patnaik, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she elaborated on the cultural significance of Raja Parba, the role and responsibilities of women in society, the close connection between nature and culture, and the importance of the festival in Odisha’s agrarian tradition. She described Raja as a symbol of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and emphasized the central role played by women in preserving and promoting the festival.

Among the distinguished guests were Suchismita Mantri, Additional Director of the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Chartered Accountant Rajib Sekhar Sahu; Information Commissioner Kalpana Patnaik; and Dr. Bharati Pal, Chairperson of the Odisha State Museum. The programme was presided over by Bishwa Odia Paribar President Sajjan Sharma.

A special discussion was held on issues affecting women from adolescence to motherhood, focusing on challenges faced by women and possible solutions. Speakers stressed the importance of women’s empowerment, social awareness, and the preservation of cultural values in contemporary society.

As part of the celebrations, participants who excelled in traditional competitions such as Hulahuli, Puchi, and other cultural events were felicitated for their achievements. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from writers, artists, social activists, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the public.

Speakers observed that Raja Parba is not merely a traditional festival but a celebration of womanhood, cultural consciousness, and social harmony. They noted that the festival continues to grow in popularity and remains an integral part of Odisha’s cultural identity.
