(HS): Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel,
said that healthy citizens are the greatest strength of a developed India.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country's healthcare
system has undergone significant transformation over the past 12 years, and
today, health services are reaching every village. She said that a better
healthcare system not only improves people's quality of life but also
strengthens the country's economic progress and productivity.
Anupriya Patel stated that under the National
Health Policy 2017, healthcare services have been made more accessible,
affordable, and of higher quality, with the goal of achieving universal health
coverage. Toward this end, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been established,
providing services such as primary care, disease screening, counseling, and health
awareness. By May 2026, more than 1.8 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are
operational across the country.
She stated that more than 700 million
teleconsultations have been provided through the e-Sanjeevani platform so far,
and more than 1.2 billion outpatient services have been provided. Extensive
screening campaigns are also being conducted to identify early illnesses such
as non-communicable diseases, cancer, diabetes, and hypertension.
The Minister of State said that under the Ayushman
Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), millions of families have
received health coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh. Furthermore, more than 910
million Abha IDs have been created under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
She said that the
impact of investments in the health sector is clearly visible. Maternal
mortality rates have declined significantly, institutional deliveries have
increased, and vaccination coverage has expanded. She said that the
government's goal is to realize the commitment of a healthy India, a strong
India by providing quality health services to every citizen.
