
New Delhi, 15 June (HS): President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Maharashtra's Solapur district and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
In a message, President Murmu described the incident as deeply saddening and painful. She expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Vice President Radhakrishnan also expressed sorrow over the accident and conveyed his sympathies to the families of the victims. He wished the injured a quick recovery and said the nation stands with the affected families in this difficult time.
The accident occurred in Solapur district's Malshiras taluka on Sunday when a mini pickup vehicle carrying devotees to Pandharpur reportedly lost control and fell into a roadside well near Tandulwadi village.
According to reports, around 14 devotees were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Eight people died in the mishap, while six others were rescued and admitted to hospital for treatment.
Local residents, police and rescue personnel carried out rescue operations following the accident.
