New Delhi, 15 June (HS): The Congress on Monday questioned the government's response to the deaths of three Indian sailors in an incident involving a vessel in the Gulf of Oman and sought accountability over the matter.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate expressed condolences over the deaths of the three sailors and raised questions regarding the government's handling of the issue.
She alleged that the government's response and diplomatic engagement following the incident were inadequate and called for efforts to secure justice for the affected families.
Shrinate also questioned whether the matter would be raised during future engagements between Indian and US leaders.
The Congress leader criticised the government's foreign policy approach and said stronger steps were required to safeguard the interests of Indian citizens abroad.
The government has not yet responded to the Congress's remarks.
