
Faridkot, 14 June (H.S.): CIA staff Faridkot arrested a youth with 101 grams of heroin, a .32 bore country-made pistol and
two live cartridges during a checking operation near Kotkapura.
The accused has been identified as Jaspal Singh alias
Palu, a resident of Nurpur Hakiman village under Dharamkot police station in
Moga district. A case has been registered against him at City Kotkapura police
station under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.
According to police, the action was taken under the
directions of SSP Faridkot Gurbans Singh Bains as part of the ongoing campaign
against drugs. A police team led by ASI Hakam Singh of the CIA staff was on
patrol and checking duty when it reached near Deviwala Road, close to the
Amritsar-Bathinda National Highway in Kotkapura.
During the checking, police noticed a youth standing in
suspicious circumstances. On seeing the police team, he allegedly tried to
flee. The police apprehended him on suspicion and conducted a search. During
the search, 101 grams of heroin, a .32 bore country-made pistol and two live
cartridges were recovered from his possession.
DSP Kotkapura Sanjeev Kumar said that as per police records, three drug
smuggling cases have already been registered against the accused. He said the
accused will be produced before the court and police remand will be sought.
During remand, the police will thoroughly investigate the backward and forward
links related to the recovered heroin and weapon.
