New Delhi, 11 June (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the initiatives undertaken for farmers' welfare as the Central Government completed 12 years in office. He said the government has consistently focused on improving farmers’ productivity and quality of life by providing access to modern technology, low-interest credit, remunerative prices for crops, income security, and solar energy solutions.
In a post on the social media platform X on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that farmers’ welfare remains one of the government’s highest priorities. He noted that sustained efforts have been made to provide cultivators with modern agricultural facilities and technologies. According to him, initiatives involving agricultural drones, Soil Health Cards, and campaigns promoting natural farming practices have helped farmers enhance crop productivity.
In another post, Modi said that the Kisan Credit Card scheme has proved highly beneficial for farmers, livestock rearers, and fishermen by facilitating easy access to low-interest credit for agriculture and other related needs. He added that the government’s “Seed to Market” approach has played a significant role in ensuring that farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
In a separate message, the Prime Minister described India’s farmers as the foundation of the nation’s food security, nutrition, and prosperity. He said the government is leaving no stone unturned to make their lives easier and more secure.
Modi highlighted that initiatives such as the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and the Crop Insurance Scheme are strengthening agriculture while also providing crucial income security to farming households. He further noted that the PM-KUSUM scheme has expanded access to solar energy for farmers, reducing cultivation costs and improving the availability of reliable energy for agricultural activities.
The Prime Minister reiterated that empowering farmers remains central to the government’s vision of building a prosperous, self-reliant, and sustainable agricultural sector in India.
