Dhule, 25 May (HS): Six people died on Monday morning in
a road accident involving three vehicles. The accident occurred in Lalit Ghat
in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on the Mumbai-Agra Highway. A private travel
bus, truck carrying sand and a car collided. Besides six death, 28 travellers
were injured in the accident.
Preliminary
report suggest that sand dumper lost control over the vehicle and veered off to
the wrong side of the road to hit vehicles coming from the opposite side
including a bus and a car following the bus. Five people including three on the
bus died on the accident site. One employee at the Toll Booth also died in the
accident.
Villagers,
Highway Police and employees of a toll booth rushed to help the passengers and
rushed them to a hospital in Dhule. The death toll is likely to be higher.
The toll booth
employees closed the booth and launched an agitation demanding insurance of the
employees. They also demanded financial support to the family of the booth
employee who died in the accident.
The agitation by
the booth employees following the accident halted traffic on the highway.
Police removed
the vehicles using crane and convinced the booth employees to remove the
traffic block.
