Guwahati, 25 May (HS): A minor parking-related altercation in Guwahati’s Ghoramara area took a tragic turn after retired Assam Police Service (APS) officer Girin Chandra Deka succumbed to injuries allegedly inflicted during the confrontation.

According to the police report on Monday, the incident occurred after an argument broke out over vehicle parking in the locality. During the heated exchange, a local youth allegedly attacked the former police officer, leaving him critically injured on the spot.

Family members and locals immediately shifted Deka to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later passed away due to the injuries sustained in the assault.

The incident has triggered concern among residents over increasing incidents of violence arising out of trivial public disputes. Meanwhile, Guwahati Police have launched an investigation into the case and are working to identify and apprehend the accused youth.-----------
