Guwahati, 25 May (HS): The Congress party is yet to take a final decision on appointing its Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, with uncertainty continuing over the selection of the legislature party leader.

Amid ongoing speculation within the party, Congress MLAs Zakir Hussain Sikdar and Nurul Huda stated that the party high command in Delhi would take the final call regarding the appointment.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly premises, the legislators indicated that discussions within the party are still underway and that the decision on who will lead the Congress in the House has not yet been concluded.

The delay in announcing the Leader of Opposition has intensified political discussions during the ongoing Assembly session.

It may be mentioned that the AICC observer Bhupesh Baghel has come to Guwahati yesterday and met Congress MLAs separately, but not been resolved.-----------
