(HS): Eight travellers died as a Scorpio SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) fell 1,000
foot ravine around 2.30 am on Monday, in Ambenali Ghat on
Poladpur-Mahabaleshwar road in Maharashtra’s Raigad District. All of them were
residents of Satara and were going from Dapoli to Satara. The cause of the
accident is being investigated.
The rescue
operation could not be started immediately due to darkness. The vehicle belong
to Asgaon village in Koregaon tehsil of Satara district.
The deceased
have been named as – Ansh Sameer Chavan (19), r/o Borgaon, Chiplun Tehsil,
Ratnagiri District; Ritesh Rajendra Lokhande (22), r/o Asgaon, Suhas Jitendra
Lokhande (20) r/o Asgaon, Utkarsha Anand Shingte (21), r/o Mardhe, Nikhil Abhimanyu
Shingte (25) r/o Mardhe; Mahesh Anil Pawar (25), r/o Asgaon; Aditya Ashok
Salunkhe (21), r/o Asgaon, and Rajesh Ashok Katkar (35), r/o Khatav (all from
Satara district).
DCM Sunetra Pawar: Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has condoled the
death of 8 youngsters from Satara in the accident in Ambenali Ghat and also
deaths in six deaths Lalit Ghat in Dhule district in road accident.
