West Medinipur, 20 May (H.S.): Sensation spread in Dantan area of West Medinipur after the body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Subarnarekha River on Wednesday.

According to local residents, the body was seen floating near the Malpara Moyarui Ghat area in Dantan. Locals immediately informed Dantan Police Station about the incident.

On information, the police reached the spot, recovered the body from the river and took it into custody. The body was later sent to Kharagpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police said that the identity of the deceased had not been established till the time of filing the report. Investigators are also trying to determine the exact cause of death. A detailed investigation into the incident has been initiated.
