
Kolkata, 20 May (H.S.): The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police has seized a large quantity of illegal firearms and ammunition during special raids conducted across multiple districts of the state. A total of six persons have been arrested in connection with the operations and will be produced before the court.
In a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, the STF said that 10 firearms were recovered during the raids, including eight 7 mm pistols. Additionally, 150 rounds of ammunition were seized.
STF Superintendent of Police Amit Anuradha Mondal said the operations were carried out in different parts of the state as part of an ongoing drive against illegal arms trafficking and criminal activities.
She stated that the special crackdown would continue and efforts were underway to recover more illegal weapons.
According to the STF, investigators are interrogating the arrested individuals to gather information regarding the arms supply network and possible links to organised criminal groups operating in the state.
