Lucknow,
20 May (HS): Akhilesh Yadav, president
of the Samajwadi Party, accused the BJP administration on Wednesday of
undermining the quota system, claiming that people were compelled to go courts
to safeguard constitutional rights. Yadav held a press conference at the
party's headquarters here and published a paper titled PDA Audit on Reservation
Looting.
According to the former Uttar Pradesh chief
minister, this dossier on PDA audit and reservation theft will continue to
improve as additional data is provided. In June 2023, Yadav came up with the
acronym PDA, which stood for 'Pichhde' (backward classes), Dalits, and
'Alpsankhyak' (minorities). Targeting the governing BJP, Yadav stated that if
students and aspirants must go to court to get constitutional requirements
enforced, it should be clear that the administration is prejudiced.
If we have to go to court to protect our
constitutional rights, that means the government is prejudiced. Someone who is
prejudiced is also disloyal. He claimed that bias is inherently unfair since it
deprives individuals of their rights. The SP chairman defined reservaation as a
tool of achieving social justice and equality. Reservation equals
protection. According to him, reservation serves as both a tool and a channel
for social organization. In response to the BJP administration's bulldozer
activity, Yadav stated, If the BJP government wants to use bulldozers,
they should use them to level the uneven ground of inequality and provide
everyone their rightful reservation. He further claimed that attempts
were being made to undermine reservation through methods such as lateral entry
appointments.
He said that lateral admission allows persons of
their choosing to be modified through the backdoor, progressively weakening
reservation demands. Yadav also accused the BJP of indulging in foul play over
constitutional reservation, claiming that the ruling party did not desire
equitable opportunity for the poorest members of society. Reservation is not a
gift; it is a right, he said, adding that it was vital to ensure social and
political representation as well as democracy.
