Gurjinder’s arrest exposes foreign-backed terror network behind CIA Moga attack, Sirhind and Shambhu railway blasts

Patiala, 02 May (H.S.): Punjab Police has claimed a major breakthrough in cracking down on Pakistan-backed ISI terror networks by solving three major terror-related incidents the CIA Moga grenade attack, the Sirhind railway track blast and the recent Shambhu railway track blast following the arrest of a key associate of the main accused Jagroop Singh.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said the operation was carried out jointly by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, Counter Intelligence Pathankot and Patiala Police. The arrested accused has been identified as Gurjinder Singh alias Baba Beant, a resident of Bidhipur in Gurdaspur district. His arrest comes during the ongoing investigation into the April 27 Shambhu railway track blast in Patiala district, in which Jagroop Singh alias Jupa was killed while allegedly attempting to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) that exploded prematurely.

Earlier, police had arrested four alleged operatives Pardeep Singh Khalsa, Kulwinder Singh alias Bagga, Satnam Singh alias Satta and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi. Security agencies had also recovered a hand grenade, two .30 bore pistols, laptops and sophisticated communication devices. Later, based on disclosures made by Jagroop’s brother Satnam Singh alias Satta, police recovered another cache of militant hardware, including a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), explosives and high-end pistols.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigations revealed that Gurjinder and Jagroop were close associates and had travelled separately to Rajpura on the day of the Shambhu blast to avoid suspicion. Gurjinder was reportedly present near the blast site but escaped as he was standing at a distance.

Police investigations have now established links between the November 7, 2025 CIA Moga grenade attack, January 23, 2026 Sirhind railway blast and April 27, 2026 Shambhu blast, indicating that all three incidents were executed by the same terror module under instructions from Malaysia-based handlers linked to operatives in Pakistan and the United States.
