
Bhubaneswar, 19 May (H.S.) : Labour and ESI Department and the Employees' State Insurance Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a new ESI Medical College and Hospital at Andharua in Bhubaneswar, marking a major step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Odisha.
The MoU was signed during a formal ceremony held at Kharavel Bhawan in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary of the Labour and ESI Department Chitra Arumugam and senior officials from both the state government and the ESIC.
As part of the agreement, the Odisha government has handed over the existing ESI Hospital at Chandrasekharpur to the ESIC to facilitate the immediate commencement of operations for the proposed medical college.
Officials said the initiative is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services and medical education facilities for ESI beneficiaries across the region.
The agreement on behalf of the Odisha government was signed by Additional Secretary of the Labour and ESI Department Rajesh Kumar Agarwala, Director of the ESI Scheme Madhumita Nayak, Joint Director Suryanarayan Padhi and Superintendent of ESI Hospital Chandrasekharpur Amiya Kumar Samal.
Representing the ESIC were Medical Commissioner for the East Zone Rachita Biswas, Regional Director of the Bhubaneswar Regional Office Rudradeep Dutta, State Medical Officer Ava Tirkey and Executive Engineer Sandeep Goel.
