
Guwahati, 19 May (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the residential complex of Lok Bhavan comprising government quarters for officers and staff and called upon residents to actively participate in tree plantation drives and adopt energy conservation practices in their daily lives.
Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sustainable development and environmental protection, Lok Bhavan, under the leadership of the Governor, has undertaken several initiatives focused on fuel and energy conservation, judicious use of resources and promotion of environmental awareness.
During the visit, the Governor interacted with residents and stressed that energy conservation should become a conscious and natural part of everyday life. He urged families residing in the complex to contribute towards environmental protection through plantation of trees, responsible consumption and sustainable practices at the household level.
Highlighting the importance of collective efforts, the Governor said active public participation is essential to build an environmentally responsible society. He added that through united initiatives, Assam can emerge as a model state in the fields of energy conservation, ecological balance and sustainable development.
The Governor also reviewed the facilities available in the residential complex and interacted with residents regarding their welfare and convenience.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram and officials of the PWD Building Department accompanied the Governor during the visit.------------
