Hooghly, 19 May (H.S.): The suspension of Trinamool Congress leader Nirmal Maji over the controversy related to medical counselling has triggered sharp political reactions in West Bengal, with the Bharatiya Janata Party launching a fresh attack on the ruling party.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, BJP leader Vishwakranti Sen said that such action against Nirmal Maji was “inevitable.” He alleged that Maji had tried to mislead people by projecting himself as a doctor who provided free treatment.

The BJP leader further claimed that Nirmal Maji’s name had surfaced in several controversies, including alleged irregularities involving medicines during the COVID-19 period and the RG Kar issue, which, according to him, led to growing public anger.

Vishwakranti Sen said that the people of Goghat are politically aware and had therefore rejected him in the elections. He also remarked that the current suspension might not be the end of the matter and hinted that stricter action could follow in the coming days.

Following the BJP leader’s remarks, political exchanges in Goghat have intensified further. However, no official reaction from All India Trinamool Congress has yet been issued regarding the allegations and statements made by the BJP leader.
