Hooghly, 19 May (H.S.): Hemanta Bag on Tuesday took a tough stand over healthcare services at Arambagh Prafulla Chandra Sen Medical College and Hospital during a surprise inspection visit.

During the visit, the BJP MLA toured various departments of the hospital and reviewed medical services as well as administrative arrangements. He also held a meeting with officials responsible for hospital management and discussed issues related to patient care and overall functioning of the institution.

In the meeting, Hemanta Bag made it clear that no form of negligence in healthcare services for common people would be tolerated. He also referred to several complaints that had surfaced earlier regarding the hospital. Discussions were reportedly held on hospital infrastructure, patient services and the functioning of different departments.

Following the meeting, the MLA submitted a 22-point complaint and demand memorandum to Dr. Ramprasad Ray, seeking immediate resolution of existing problems and improvement in the quality of healthcare services.

Speaking to reporters, Hemanta Bag said, “There can be no compromise when it comes to treatment of common people. Regular monitoring must be maintained in every department and humane behaviour towards patients must be ensured. The administration needs to give greater importance to ensuring proper healthcare services for the people.”

The MLA’s sudden inspection created considerable buzz within the hospital premises. A section of local residents expressed hope that the initiative would help improve the standard of healthcare services at the hospital.
