Lucknow,
19 May (HS): Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party, stated on
Tuesday that the coalition with its allies will continue in future elections,
claiming that the formula will be victory rather than seats. When asked at a
newspaper event if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and him will campaign together
in the next elections, Yadav said his party had extensive experience conducting
alliances and always guaranteed that its partners profited from the arrangement.
We
have formed various alliances. We have experience with coalitions, and the
Samajwadi Party has always delivered results for its allies. We have never
deceived someone. The current partnership will remain, Yadav stated.
He
stated that future coalition conversations will not be about haggling for
seats, but about assuring electoral victory. There will be no issue of seats in
the partnership. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, I stated that the issue
was not seats, but victory. The same formula will apply again. He stated that
the question will be about winning rather than seats. The words are significant
in light of ongoing conversations about opposition unity and potential
seat-sharing arrangements for Uttar Pradesh's assembly elections next year.
