Lucknow,
18 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath encourages residents
to help conserve and digitize rare manuscripts to preserve the state's cultural
legacy. The Uttar Pradesh government is working to preserve India's ancient
knowledge. Nearly 700,000 manuscripts have been identified in Uttar Pradesh so
far. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants the public of Uttar Pradesh, if they
have any manuscripts or have information about them, to help preserve and
digitize them. He has written a letter to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh to this
effect.
An
important source of knowledge about ancient society and culture: Manuscripts
are documents that provide insight into the ancient society and culture of
various regions of the country. They offer a glimpse into the past and are an
authentic document of ancient civilization. Approximately 7.5 million
manuscripts have been identified nationwide and 700,000 in Uttar Pradesh. These
manuscripts, from various periods, are in Sanskrit and other ancient languages
and scripts. The central government and the Uttar Pradesh government are
working to preserve these manuscripts by translating and digitizing them.
'Yogi's
letter' to the people of UP: He has added a letter titled 'Yogi's Letter' to
this post. In it, he has written, My respected citizens of the state,
today's letter begins with a question. I ask you, what is the soul of India? It
is quite possible that your answer will be one among the Vedas, Upanishads,
Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Geeta, Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram,
Leeladhar Shri Krishna, Mahatma Buddha, Lord Mahavir, Guru Nanak Dev, Saint
Kabir, humanity. This is where a natural curiosity arises in the mind as to
how? The answer is, this intact identity of India was preserved in manuscripts
through the Shravan tradition and after technological advancement, it reached
every home in the form of texts. This is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi
considers manuscripts to be the chapters of India's soul.
In
a post on X, UP CM remarked, “My esteemed fellow citizens of the state, the
illustrious Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiji regards manuscripts as chapters
of India's soul. We are able to benefit from the knowledge accumulated over generations
today because these manuscripts have kept the consciousness of knowledge
awakened for thousands of years. I urge you to come forward for the
preservation of manuscripts. So far, nearly 7 lakh manuscripts have been
identified. If you have any ancient manuscripts, handwritten texts, palm
leaves, etc., available, please upload information about them on the 'Gyan
Bharatam Mobile App' or portal, so that their preservation can be ensured.”
