18 May (HS): Following the directives of the Railway Board, North Central
Railway is celebrating the World Environment Day Fortnight with grand
arrangements from May 15 to June 05, 2026. The central theme designated for
this year's World Environment Day is Climate Change. In
continuation of this initiative, various eco-friendly activities were organized
today at the North Central Railway Headquarters to promote environmental
sustainability and awareness.
Environmental
Awareness Cycle Rally: To ignite public awareness and responsibility towards
nature, an environmental awareness cycle rally was flagged off. The rally was
led by Shri Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager of North Central Railway, along
with Anil Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer. Various Heads of
Departments, senior officers, and staff members enthusiastically participated
in the rally.
Massive
Tree Plantation: Following the successful culmination of the cycle rally, a large-scale
tree plantation drive was conducted at the Railgaon Colony. The General
Manager, alongside all departmental heads, officers, and employees, planted
saplings to contribute towards a greener ecosystem.
Campaign
Against Single-Use Plastic: To heavily discourage the utilization of single-use
plastics and its derivatives, cloth bags and premium steel water bottles were
distributed among the sanitation workers (Paryavaran Mitras).
The
North Central Railway Women's Welfare Organization (NCRWWO) actively
participated throughout the event, driving the core initiatives forward. The
organization's President, Heema Chauhan Singh, General Secretary, Sadhana
Kumar, and Member, Rakhi Dwivedi, along with other members, were personally
present to distribute the cloth bags and steel bottles to the sanitation staff,
honoring their role as key environmental caretakers.
Speaking
on the occasion, General Manager Naresh Pal Singh called upon everyone to
remain deeply sensitive and proactive towards environmental conservation and
climate change. He emphasized the urgent need to contribute actively to
protecting natural resources and urged all members to undertake maximum tree
plantation in their personal and professional capacities. The Principal Chief
Mechanical Engineer expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participants for
their energetic presence and commitment to the cause. Around 400 officers and
employees registered their active presence during the day's events.
The
successful execution of today's mega event was orchestrated under the
leadership of Rajesh Kumar Jatav (CME/Project) and Manish Kumar (Chief
Environment & Housekeeping Manager), supported by a dedicated team of
supervisors.
Throughout
this fortnight-long campaign concluding on June 5, North Central Railway will
continue to host a series of environment-focused activities, including various
competitions, Shramdaan (voluntary labor), seminars, street plays (Nukkad
Nataks), massive plantation drives, and the continuous distribution of cloth
bags and reusable steel bottles across all divisions.
