Prayagraj,

18 May (HS): Following the directives of the Railway Board, North Central

Railway is celebrating the World Environment Day Fortnight with grand

arrangements from May 15 to June 05, 2026. The central theme designated for

this year's World Environment Day is Climate Change. In

continuation of this initiative, various eco-friendly activities were organized

today at the North Central Railway Headquarters to promote environmental

sustainability and awareness.

Environmental

Awareness Cycle Rally: To ignite public awareness and responsibility towards

nature, an environmental awareness cycle rally was flagged off. The rally was

led by Shri Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager of North Central Railway, along

with Anil Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer. Various Heads of

Departments, senior officers, and staff members enthusiastically participated

in the rally.

Massive

Tree Plantation: Following the successful culmination of the cycle rally, a large-scale

tree plantation drive was conducted at the Railgaon Colony. The General

Manager, alongside all departmental heads, officers, and employees, planted

saplings to contribute towards a greener ecosystem.

Campaign

Against Single-Use Plastic: To heavily discourage the utilization of single-use

plastics and its derivatives, cloth bags and premium steel water bottles were

distributed among the sanitation workers (Paryavaran Mitras).

The

North Central Railway Women's Welfare Organization (NCRWWO) actively

participated throughout the event, driving the core initiatives forward. The

organization's President, Heema Chauhan Singh, General Secretary, Sadhana

Kumar, and Member, Rakhi Dwivedi, along with other members, were personally

present to distribute the cloth bags and steel bottles to the sanitation staff,

honoring their role as key environmental caretakers.

Speaking

on the occasion, General Manager Naresh Pal Singh called upon everyone to

remain deeply sensitive and proactive towards environmental conservation and

climate change. He emphasized the urgent need to contribute actively to

protecting natural resources and urged all members to undertake maximum tree

plantation in their personal and professional capacities. The Principal Chief

Mechanical Engineer expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participants for

their energetic presence and commitment to the cause. Around 400 officers and

employees registered their active presence during the day's events.

The

successful execution of today's mega event was orchestrated under the

leadership of Rajesh Kumar Jatav (CME/Project) and Manish Kumar (Chief

Environment & Housekeeping Manager), supported by a dedicated team of

supervisors.

Throughout

this fortnight-long campaign concluding on June 5, North Central Railway will

continue to host a series of environment-focused activities, including various

competitions, Shramdaan (voluntary labor), seminars, street plays (Nukkad

Nataks), massive plantation drives, and the continuous distribution of cloth

bags and reusable steel bottles across all divisions.
