Chennai, 18 May (H.S):

The Tamil Nadu government has officially announced that the results of the Class 10 public examinations will be declared on May 20, ending the anticipation of nearly nine lakh students who appeared for the examinations across the state.

School Education Minister Rajmohan confirmed the result date while also reiterating that schools across Tamil Nadu would reopen as scheduled on June 1 after the summer vacation. The minister said preparatory arrangements for the new academic year were progressing as planned, including teacher training programmes linked to curriculum updates.

The Class 10 public examinations were conducted across the state from March 11 to April 6, with a total of around nine lakh candidates taking part. The candidates included 8,82,806 school students and 13,744 private candidates.

Following the examinations, answer sheet evaluation was carried out at centres across Tamil Nadu. Officials completed the valuation process in recent weeks and subsequently initiated the process of uploading marks and preparing the final results database.

Education department officials have been engaged in the final stages of result processing and verification work over the past several days to ensure a smooth and timely release of results.

With all necessary procedures completed, the School Education Department has now formally confirmed that the results will be announced on May 20 as planned.

Students can access their results online immediately after the official announcement by entering their registration number and date of birth on the designated government portals.

Apart from the examination update, Rajmohan also provided details on preparations for the upcoming academic session. He said schools would resume functioning from June 1 after the summer break, while training sessions for teachers on newly introduced textbooks and curriculum changes would be held from June 1 to June 3.

The state government has also initiated measures aimed at strengthening school education, including the introduction of revised textbooks for primary classes as part of broader curriculum reforms.
